A good-sized boot and plenty of passenger space make the Peugeot E-2008 a decent family car

Practicality is important in this class, and the E-2008 doesn’t disappoint. The electric Peugeot’s boot is a good size and loses nothing to its petrol and diesel-powered counterparts. There’s enough space for a small dog or buggy in the boot, while two adults will be more than comfortable in the second row of seats.

Peugeot E-2008 interior space, storage & comfort

Despite being based on the Peugeot E-208 supermini, the E-2008 certainly earns its SUV status inside thanks to its roomy cabin. The rear seats are more than spacious enough to carry two adults; there are three seatbelts in the back, but you’d only want to carry an extra passenger on short journeys – the larger Kia Niro EV struggles a bit less in this regard.

The electronic parking brake leaves an uncluttered area ahead of the front armrest, which lifts to reveal a central cubbyhole. A recessed storage area at the base of the dashboard is great for holding your phone; on GT-spec cars this area houses the wireless charging pad. It’s a shame that the glovebox isn’t very usable, on account of the location of the fusebox under the bonnet.

Boot space

At 434 litres, the E-2008’s boot capacity can't quite match that of the Kia Niro EV, but there is still usefully more than you get in something like a Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf. It’s a good shape, too, and you can extend the luggage space by folding the 60:40 split rear seats. Be sure to add the variable boot floor if it’s not standard on the trim level you’re considering, as it creates a useful cable storage area that’s lacking otherwise, as well as raising the floor to be flush with the folded seats and boot lip.
