While the Lexus UX is a relatively new model, there’s plenty of data and history on other Lexus cars, as well as equivalent Toyotas on which it's based. The firm has performed consistently well in the Driver Power satisfaction survey, proving owners are, on the whole, very content with their cars. Safety has always been a big selling point for Toyota and its premium sub-brand Lexus, and the UX comes loaded with all the latest technology, along with a five-star seal of approval from the independent experts at Euro NCAP.

Lexus UX reliability & problems

The Lexus UX didn’t feature in the latest edition of the Driver Power owner satisfaction survey. However, as a brand, Lexus tends to impress its owners, who are a passionate bunch and have raved about the dependability of their cars and the service they get from dealers. In the 2021 DriverPower survey, Lexus finished in 10th place and reliability was strong, with just 10% of owners reporting problems with their cars.

Safety

The Lexus UX has been crash-tested by Euro NCAP and received the maximum five-star rating, along with high scores for adult and child occupant protection, as well as its safety assistance systems. Equipment-wise, all UX models get eight airbags and Lexus Safety System+ featuring radar-guided cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance and road-sign recognition.

Buyers can also specify extra safety equipment if they opt for the Premium Plus Pack, which brings blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and autonomous braking. From the Premium Sport Edition trim, an 'Intelligent Clearance Sonar System' is fitted, which can brake the car if it detects an object when manoeuvring at low speeds.
