Genesis Electrified GV70 electric SUV: UK pricing and specs announced

Starting price of £64,405 for fully electric version of large Genesis luxury SUV

Genesis Electrified GV70

UK pricing and specifications for the Genesis Electrified GV70 electric SUV have been announced. The South Korean brand’s answer to the BMW iX3, Jaguar i-Pace, Lexus RZ and Mercedes EQC will be available in a single Sport trim level only, priced at £64,405. Orders for the Electrified GV70 are being taken now, with first deliveries scheduled for October 2022.

Standard equipment includes a 14.5-inch widescreen infotainment display, powered leather seats and LED mood lighting and the extensive use of high grade materials. Buyers can also choose from a selection of option packs to add extra features; among these are the Innovation Pack, Convenience Pack, Comfort Seat Pack, Nappa Leather Seats Pack, Outdoor Pack and Sunroof Pack.

In addition, there are a number of individual extras, including an aluminium interior garnish and 20-inch alloy wheels. Also available is the fingerprint reader authentication technology, which uses biometric data to enhance security.

The Electrified GV70 made its European debut at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed (above) in June. It's the third of the three EVs Genesis promised it would launch in the UK within 12 months of its arrival, the others being the GV60 coupe-SUV and Electrified G80 saloon. The brand says it'll launch only electric models from 2025.

Styling-wise, the electric GV70 is largely unchanged from the petrol and diesel-powered versions. However, like the Electrified G80 saloon, the zero-emissions GV70 features a closed grille for improved aerodynamics, and this also hides the charging port. The cabin is finished in eco-friendly materials, while it also has a lowered centre console to ensure rear passenger space is on par with the combustion-engined models.

Customers can choose from 15 exterior colours, including Mauna Red and Barossa Burgundy Metallic. There's also a choice of four premium paint finishes - solid, metallic, pearlescent and matte. For the interior, there’s a choice of colour themes – three for the standard leather and three for the Nappa leather upgrade.

The Electrified GV70 is only available with all-wheel drive, thanks to a twin electric-motor setup that produces 483bhp and 700Nm of torque in Boost mode. As a result, 0-62mph takes just 4.5 seconds. The 77.4kWh battery offers up to 283 miles on a charge and the Electrified GV70 is able to switch between two and four-wheel drive for improved efficiency and increased range, based on speed and driving mode.

The car also shares technical features with Hyundai Group cousins like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. It can be recharged from 10-80% in 18 minutes if you use a 350kW rapid charger thanks to its 800v charging system. The Electrified GV70 is also capable of 'one-pedal' driving, much like the Honda e city car.

Another notable feature is Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) , which eliminates road noise by analysing data from the four sensors and eight microphones built into the car and then “creating inverted sound waves” – the same idea behind noise-cancelling headphones. The Preview Electronic Control Suspension system can be also adjusted based on information from the Genesis’ front camera and navigation system.
